PMC E-LIBRARY

PMC has recently launched E-Library with emphasis on quality education and learning environment for students. HINARI is registered in the library. A rich collection of over 15,000 online journals and nearly 60,000 e-books has been added through HINARI. User can search Medical Science databases & full-text of e-books and e-journals from this site. HINARI is one of the world's largest collections of biomedical and health literature.

HINARI Access to Research for Health Programme was set up by the World Health Organization and major publishers to enable developing countries to access collections of biomedical and health literature. HINARI is part of Research4Life. All registered members of the PMC library get access to Research4life- (HINARI) for online journals and e-books databases from inside campus through the Internet.

PMC has added a new dimension to the e-Library with the Integrated Library Management System Software – KOHA. Almost all activities of the library are managed through library management software which support MARC21, web-based online lending and receiving, browsing reading materials, tracking circulation system, auto email alert services, etc.

Users can also track the books on shelves using PMC Library OPAC- Online Public Access Catalogue. Its online databases will provide full access to all users and facilitate navigation and reservation of books from distant work-stations through its own website. Users would be able check their borrowing status, renew issued resources and reserve books through the library website.

Medscape is registered in the library. Medscape is a website providing access to medical information for clinicians and medical scientists; the organization also provides continuing education for physicians and other health professionals. It references medical journal articles, Continuing Medical Education (CME), a version of the National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE database, medical news, and drug information (Medscape Drug Reference, or MDR). At one time Medscape published seven electronic peer reviewed journals.

Soon PMC e-Library will provide its users full access of Up To Date. It’s an evidence based clinical resource site. It includes a collection of medical and patient information, access to Lexicomp drug monographs and drug-to-drug interactions, and a number of medical calculators. This site is written by over 7,100 physician authors, editors and peer reviewers. Up To Date Inc. is a company in the Wolters Kluwer Health division of Wolters Kluwer.
